Organise the perfect slumber party for your kids and have a giant relaxing sleepover this summer!
Here are some tips:
Plan your food – don’t forget the kids are going to be there throughout the night and for the morning, so ensure you have lots of ideas up your sleeve for the evening meal and breakfast. Treats like crisps and pretzels always go down a treat at night and why not all make smoothies together in the morning?
Sort out invitations – especially for younger kids. It’s nice for the little ones to have a real sense of control, so pop on the invitation what they need to bring so that they can learn to pack their sleepover kit by themselves.
Get the supplies in! – get some spare toothbrushes and combs in case anyone forgets them.
Theme your party – why not have a competition for the best costume or best pyjamas? Or make it a karaoke evening, where the kids dress as their favourite pop stars and then sing the night away in the lounge? You could even tell everyone to bring roller skates and set up a mini roller disco in the garage! Or make it an arts and crafts night and make jewellery, pillowcases or decorate t-shirts.
Games:
There are lots of great websites that can offer you tips and advice for how to keep your pyjama party exciting – but here are some of our favourites!
PIGGLY WIGGLY: Everyone lays out their sleeping bags. Choose someone to be “it”. They must leave the room. Everyone else hides in a sleeping bag that is not their own. When they are ready – the one that is “it” re-enters the room and sits on one of the sleeping bags and says “piggly wiggly”… The person inside the bag says “oink oink” and “it” must guess who is in the bag. If they get it right, the person in the bag becomes “it”.
MINI ALARM: Get a little cooking timer and hide it in the lounge – the kids have to find it before it goes off! You could have prizes ready for the winner, such as a sweet treat.
MAKEOVERS: One for the girls! We all loved dressing up when we were little so why not set up a beauty parlour in the living room and all paint each others nails or make face masks with mashed avocado and cucumber eye patches?
To finish:
When all the kids are ready to settle down, why not pop on one of our Relax Kids CDs or try reading a relaxing meditation to them? The Wishing Star book has got a lovely tale in it called “Soft Bed” where children can lie back and imagine they are sinking into a comfy mattress and have a peaceful nights sleep.
